Interval training with the GYMBOSS (giveaway)

Interval training is one of my favorite forms of exercise.  It gets your heart rate up up up, and your workout time decreases.  It’s a really effective form of exercise.

When I’ve done timed interval training outside with a stop watch, it has always been a hassle to look at my watch multiple times to see when I start my all out sprint, or when I can do my recovery jog (okay I totally pay more attention to the second one).

I was lucky enough to have a nifty little tool sent to me that has been keeping me on track.

Meet the GYMBOSS.


This genius exercise tool will either count down whatever time you choose, or can be set for 2 different interval rounds.  I’ve used it both ways and I really like that it comes with 2 alarms that you can hear and one that vibrates. 

The beeps are a bit too loud when I’m workout out early while Jacob is still asleep.  But when I’m outside I probably wouldn’t notice the vibrations as much so the beeps are perfect.

The picture below shows a day I decided to do 15 intervals with a 40 seconds recovery/jog interval then a 20 second work/sprint interval.  The whole workout was 15 minutes long (with a warm up and cool down added in), but felt so much shorter.


Intervals make time go by so quickly and like I said, they are one of my favorite types of exercise.  There is much more than just sprints that you can do with an interval timer, but more on that later another day with a new workout.

    I go through phases of workout routines… Lately I have been into running, but I also love spinning, body pump classes, hot yoga, and Beach Body Insanity. I would suggest trying any of these things if you are looking for something new 🙂

    I love a fast paced run followed by a few sprints and then a full body workout including planks and other strengthening exercises.

    I have a bootcamp class I attend on Monday’s. By far is my favoirtie workout!

    OH! What a fun giveaway! I love working out and this would come in handy, especially since I also LOVE interval/circuit training! I love working out to DVDs like Jillian Michaels or The FIRM, occassionally, I’ll hit the ellipitcal. Mostly I try to change it up whenever possible!

    I love to do strength training and to bike. I am learning to run and have been using a couch to 5K training program. I agree that looking at my watch is difficult. This would be great.

    Great giveaway! I would have to say spin and body pump for my favorite workouts!! I am not a huge of pushing myself through weight workouts so doing a class like body pump really keeps me motivated!

    Great giveaway! I like interval training and have always wanted to try the Gymboss! Right now, I do intervals on the stepper and also sprints when running outside.

    I would LOVE to win this. My favorite workout is weight lifting, followed by dancing for cardio. Yoga is slowly growing on me–and if I have to do cardio other than dancing then bring on the intervals!

    I just started bootcamps at Atlantic Beach Performance in Jacksonville, FL, where our coach uses a big Gymboss for our interval training. I’d love to have my own for travel and workouts on my own!

    My favorite workout is Urban Iron… I think it’s pretty much the same thing as the Body Pump class people talk about. It’s a tough workout but after a few weeks you def see results. Can’t beat that! 🙂
